Harry Benson – 1929

Harry Benson CBE, is a Glaswegian photographer who after working for the Glasgow Herald, emigrated to New York where, at the age of 93 he still lives. I am fortunate to have met him not so many years ago in Edinburgh, at a retrospective of his work and he let me take some portraits of him. Co-incidentally he is the Uncle of a good family friend and I have had the privilege to see some of his original work of the Beatles.

His photographs of celebrities and US Presidents have been published in magazines and are well known. He has published many books and won a number of prominent awards.

You can see some of his work here.
